Rescued kids

Imphal, April 03 2013: Four of the 23 children rescued from a Home in Jaipur, Rajasthan recently were allowed to appear their Class X Central Board exam in Imphal from today.


The four children were allowed to sit for the exam at Kendriya Vidyalaya centre, Lamphelpat in Imphal following an authorisation given by the North East Regional Secretary of NIOS.


The children had earlier opted for Jaipur centre.

New Chief Secretary

Imphal, April 03 2013: RR Rashmi, who is presently holding the charge of Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Forest and Environment, is likely to become the next Chief Secretary.


Chief Secretary , DS Poonia retires from service by the end of this month.


Rashmi is expected to arrive here on April 9 .

New data from the Chandra X-Ray Observatory of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC), one of the Milky Way’s closest galactic neighbors, reveals the first discovery of X-ray emissions from young stars similar to our sun outside of our galaxy. This composite of X-ray, optical and infrared images shows the stars in a region known as “The Wing” of the SMC. Naorem Tomba joins TMC

Imphal, April 02 2013: Ex-Councilor of Samurou Nagar Panchayat under Wangoi Assembly Constituency, Naorem Tomba Meetei has joined Manipur Pradesh Trinamol Congress and it has been accepted by party’s state President, Kim Gangte, a release from the party said.

Imphal, April 02 2013: Joint Forum of Manipur Rural Bank Officers Association (MRBOA) and Manipur Rural Bank Employees Association (MRBEA) has condoled the death of Dilip Kumar Mukherjee, Secretary, All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association, who passed away on 31st March at Kaikhali, Kolkata and observed 2-minute silence at Manipur Rural Bank premises on Monday at 10.30 am as mark of respect to the departed soul, a release of the Forum said.

Locals object to RITES survey work

Imphal, April 01, 2013: Expressing fear that their land might be affected, thus resulting in permanent displacement, residents of Konthoujam, Ahallup, Malom, Bamdier and adjoining villages in Imphal West have objected to the ongoing rail line construction and its survey being conducted by Rail India Technical Evaluation Services (RITES).


To demonstrate their objection, the local residents staged a sit-in protest at Konthoujam Bamdier on Monday to draw the attention of the authorities concerned for seeking the their approval with regard to the ongoing survey work.
