Imphal, June 05 2013: Two including driver of a Van died while several other sustained injuries when a Maruti Van and a Dumper Truck collided head on at Lilong Tairen Makhong along Imphal-Moreh highway in Thoubal district today.
In an unrelated incident, a nursery student died when hit by an Inter-State bus (MN05-1335) which was coming from Nagaland side towards Imphal today around 11.30am at Tumnoupokpi in Senapati district.
Police source said a Maruti Van (MN04A-6010) coming from Moreh towards Imphal collided head on with a Dumper Truck (MN07C-3160) coming in an opposite direction at around 2 pm today.
At least six occupants of the Van were injured in the mishap.
Marini (24) d/o Lalzamang of Moreh Ward No 5 and driver of the Van identified as one Manglianthang Zou of Moreh Ward No 2 succumbed to injury at RIMS hospital.
Driver of the truck fled from the spot.
Besides taking the truck into custody, Lilong police registered a case for investigation.
