Imphal, July 01 2013: MLA MK Preshow Shimray elected on Congress ticket from Chingai Assembly Constituency of Ukhrul district was today elected Deputy Speaker of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly unopposed.
Out of 16 nomination papers filed in favour of MK Preshow, one went invalid.
After being elected Deputy Speaker, MK Preshow was guided to the seat of Deputy Speaker by House leader O Ibobi and Opposition Member Dr I Ibohalbi.
Conveying his gratitude to all Members of the House for electing MK Preshow as Deputy Speaker unanimously, Chief Minister O Ibobi underscored the importance of Legislature, Judiciary and Executive in a democracy.
Exuding confidence that the Deputy Speaker would conduct House business in a neutral manner, Ibobi expressed firm faith in the Deputy Speaker to take right decisions while discussing important issues in the House leaving aside party affiliation.

He went to hail MK Preshow as a man of integrity and discipline.
Commenting on the election of MK Preshow to the post of Deputy Speaker, L Ibomcha remarked that MK Preshow deserves an award for defeating his rival candidate supported by NSCN-IM.
Speaker Th Lokeshore stated that Deputy Speaker can make immense contributions in conducting House proceedings.
Later, MK Preshow conveyed gratitude to all Members of the House for electing him to the post of Deputy Speaker unanimously.
He pledged that he would perform his duty as a Deputy Speaker up to the mark without any distinction between ruling and opposition parties.
MK Preshow was born on April 5, 1966 at Poi village, Ukhrul and he presently living at Sunny Villa, Nagaram.
As for his educational qualification, MK Preshow is BE (Civil) and ME (Environment).
