Imphal, February 03 2014: Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today convened a meeting of district level officers at Classic Hotel and discussed about implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Tamenglong district.
Hill Areas Committee Vice-Chairman Z Kikhonbou, Tamenglong DC C Arthur, SDOs and SDCs were present at the meeting.
Speaking at the gathering, Gaikhangam stated that NFSA would be a boon for the public.
He exuded confidence that NFSA can improve social status and living standard of the people of Manipur including people of Tamenglong district.
C Arthur said that household cards for eligible beneficiaries would be issued very soon on priority basis.
Total number of beneficiaries for Tamenglong district is 21,281 .
On account of certain religious beliefs, residents of Gaimai village have not come forward for the biometric enrolment process.
Nonetheless, the SDO concerned would take up necessary steps in order to clear all doubts and persuade the villagers to come forward for the same process.
The DC affirmed that the biometric enrolment process would be completed by February 28 .
