CBSE students protest : Numerous students likely to miss Class X, XII exams

Imphal, February 26 2015: Police today resorted to baton charge to disperse a large number of students who came with their parents who tried to storm the Assembly premises seeking the intervention of the Govt regarding non-issuance of admit card to them for the upcoming CBSE class X and XII exams.


A large number of students of four schools who are likely to miss the CBSE X and XII exams due to non-issuance of admit cards along with their parents marched toward the Assembly complex where a sitting is currently underway today around noon.


A confrontation took place between the marching students and the police near THAU ground prompting the police to resort to lathi-charge the students and their parents in order to stop them from proceeding further.

Later, the students took out a protest by staging a sit in protest on the main road leading to the Assembly complex from Khoyathong side.


Many restless student protesters broke down in tears while strongly demanding the intervention of the State Government to redress their grievances regarding the non-issue of admit cards.


Later at around 1 pm, IK Muivah, DIGP rushed to the spot and spoke to the representatives of the agitating students.


The officer persuaded the student agitators to adopt a more democratic way to pursue their demands without causing disturbances to the public.
