Imphal, February 28 2015 : Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will visit Manipur either in the last week of March or first week of April for direct assessment of the railway line construction work.


BJP State unit secretary M Ashnikumar and party president Th Chaoba called on Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at Delhi today.


During the brief meeting, Suresh Prabhu stated that he will visit Manipur for two days either in the last week of March or first week of April in order to collect a first hand account of the ongoing railway line construction work.


Pointing out that survey for railway connectivity between Imphal and Moreh has been completed, Chaoba and Ashnikumar urged the Union Minister to take up Imphal-Moreh railway project as soon as possible.


They also proposed construction of ropeways at Noney and Tupul.


They raised another proposal for opening a sub-divisional head office of Indian Railways at Imphal in the interest of the unemployed youth of Manipur.

After listening to all their proposals, Suresh Prabhu pledged to translate maximum of the proposals into action, conveyed Ashnikumar.


Later in the afternoon, Chaoba and Ashnikumar called on Union Minister of Finance and Information Arun Jaitely and Union Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal.


The two BJP leaders from the State urged the Union Ministers to extend banking facilities to rural and hill areas of Manipur.
