Imphal, February 20 2015 : Nongchup Imphal Loumee Sinmi Chaokhat Thourang Lup celebrated its 16th foundation day at Khoyum Sabal Awang Khunou today.
Chief guest of the event, K Sarat Singh, Konthoujam A/C MLA during his speech said the rising population and its resultant encroachment on farming areas for building offices, houses etc has handicapped the productivity of the State.
For increased crop productivity, the chief guest said coordination between IFCD, Minor Irrigation and other such departments of the State is needed.
The MLA further appealed to the State Government to support the initiatives taken up by Loumi Sinmi Lup and also to implement Agricultural Land Protection Act to preserve agricultural land in the State.
NILSCTL, Imphal West president Thoiba Konthoujam, Adhakshya, Imphal West Yumnam Dasumati Devi and ZP Awang Khunou Mutum Sanahanbi Devi were the presidium members.
