Imphal, April 04 2013: With money power overpowering merit list in any government job recruitment, the State Government should come up with certain strategies like reserving one government job for one family so as to bring about economic balance in the society, veteran politician O Joy has exclaimed.

Addressing media persons here today, O Joy said that the physical test for selection of constables in the Manipur Police has already been conducted and the written test would be fixed shortly.

The initiative of the Home Minister in trying to ensure fair selection procedure is indeed praiseworthy.

However, there are reports of corruption in the ongoing recruitment process, which is indeed unfortunate.

Some of the candidates have even mortgaged their properties to get themselves selected by all means, he added.

O Joy further pointed out that since getting a government job in Manipur is regarded as prestigious and it is hard to get, people have been trying every possible means to get the job.

There are even families where 4 to 5 of the family members are employed in various government departments.

This has led to an imbalance in the economy.

As such there is the need for the State Government to come up with a reservation policy wherein at least one government job is provided to each family in the State.
