Progress in investigation made, suspects listed

Imphal, April 08 2013: With the police or the Special Investigation Team reportedly making healthy progress in the investigation into the death of N Satyabhama, a reliable source informed that the police have been able to zero in on some suspects and necessary instructions have been issued to do the needful.


Talking to , the source said that during the course of the investigation, the police have been able to collect reliable evidences to take up action and accordingly instructions have been issued to follow up.


The source however refused to divulge whether any suspects have been pulled up in connection with the case or not.


On being contacted, a senior police official informed to wait till tomorrow to get a better picture of the case.

The progress comes in the face of the Strategic Operation Group meeting today to discuss a myriad of issues including the case of Satyabhama.


Speaking to an official source said that the SOG met today under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary and the unfolding scenario following the ‘murder’ of Satyabhama.


Meanwhile, claiming that the State Government has been putting in all its resources to nab the murderer(s) of Ningombam Satyabhama at the earliest, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai has assured womenfolk spearheading the agitation against the murder that the culprit(s) can never escape the law.


AK Mirabai and MLA O Landhoni, who is the wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi, today visited the bereaved family and interacted with women leaders spearheading the agitation.


People who gathered there urged the Minister and the MLA to nab the killers and hand them over to the public.


They also asked not to condone or protect criminal elements.


Taking due note of the aggrieved tone, Minister Mirabai assured that the killers can be apprehended for sure.


On her part, Satyabhama’s mother maintained that they would never claim the corpse of Satyabhama until the murderers are booked.


“As for the mass protest movement, it is not in our hands”, she added.
