AAP split wide open, National Council to decide Yogendra Yadav and Prasant Bhushan’s fate

AAP split wide open, National Council to decide Yogendra Yadav and Prasant Bhushan’s fate

New Delhi: The crisis in the Aam Aami Party has escalated to a point of no-return and today could just be the day of split. AAP National Council is likely to remove senior leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav from the party.

AAP’s Lokpal Admiral Ramdas and senior leader Rahul Mehra will not be attending the meet. Ramdas’s name was proposed by Prashant Bhushan to head the meeting but he has been asked not to attend.

The split was imminent on Friday after a series of press conferences. First Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan held an explosive press conference where they called Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a dictator surrounded by yes men. Then an hour later the Kejriwal camp hit back saying AAP had agreed to all of Bhushan and Yadav’s demands but the two rebels backed out at the last minute.

AAP’s National Council is scheduled to meet on Saturday and take the final call on the ongoing crisis within the party.

AAP leader Ashish Khaitan said, “Because of some personal issues, we are not able to reach reconciliation. Some vested interest people are trying to derail the government.”

Kejriwal was heard purportedly using expletives against dissident leaders Yadav and Bhushan and even threatening to form a new party.

However, the Kejriwal camp hit back claiming that “private” conversations of leaders were being “recorded” for the past nine months to “blackmail” the leadership.
