Nagaland Election: Formal Process Begins



The formal process of Nagaland Assembly election to the 60-member State Legislative Assembly began on Wednesday with issue of Notifications by the Election Commission. The election is scheduled in the State on 23rd of this month and counting of votes is on 28th February next.

The last date of filing Nomination Papers is on February 6 and scrutiny will be taken up on February 7 next. The last day of withdrawal of Nomination Papers is on February 9.

It is reported that, as many as 11 lakh 92 thousand voters are eligible to vote in 2023 polling centres across the State of which over five lakh 88 thousands are women voters. Over 31 thousand security personnel, including central forces, are being deployed all over Nagaland to monitor the security aspects in all the sensitive locations. 11 police observers, besides 22 general and 13 expenditure observers have been deployed to conduct free and fair elections for the 12th State Assembly.
