Imphal, December 20, 2013: The Government of Manipur has agreed to set up Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) in all nine districts of Manipur.
One RSETI has been already set up in Churachandpur district in February this year under the sponsorship of the State Bank of India.
Whereas land allotment order has been issued for Imphal West for setting up RSETI, sites have been identified in all the remaining districts for setting up of RSETIs.
It is reported that Revenue Department and Rural Development Department are actively working on the formalities for land allotment of RSETIs.
RSETI, earlier known as Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) was a unique initiative aimed at mitigating the problem of unemployment.
It was conceptualised by Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Educational Trust, Syndicate Bank and Canara Bank under the leadership of Dr D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala in 1982. RUDSETI has now established 27 units in 17 States and has trained 3.22 lakh youth of which 2.33 lakh trainees have settled with their self employment ventures which means the settlement rate is 73 per cent.
