Imphal, December 18 2013: Troops of 9 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) recovered a Tokay Gecko inside a box in Dalpatti area, ward number 2, Moreh on December 17, according to statement issued by PRO of IGAR(South) .
The security Forces were conducting search operation when they saw an individual moving toward the International border carrying packed consignments.
On seeing the security forces, the person managed to escape into the thick jungle of Myanmar leaving the consignment behind on Indian soil.
On thorough checking of the box, one Tokay Gecko was found inside.
The recovered Tokay Gecko is being handed over to Wildlife Department, Moreh/Imphal for further investigation.
