Several cases of bird flu were detected in Hyderabad on Tuesday. According to reports, officials confirmed about the cases after receiving lab report from Pune.

Considering the threat, officials have ordered to kill 80,000 birds.

Since 2006, India has culled 6.4 million birds because of bird flu. A month ago, the threat of a bird flu outbreak loomed large on Amethi. Hundreds of hens and other birds including ducks and pigeons were culled today in different villages of Bazar Shukul block in Amethi district to check the spread of bird flu, a senior official said.

The culling took place under the surveillance of a high powered committee formed by Directorate of Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry department to check the spread of dangerous viruses of the killer disease, Bazar Shukul livestock officer said.
