Imphal, April 12 2015 : Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today visited the family of late lyricist and writer B Jayantakumar Sharma at Brahmapur Nahabam Bachaspati Leikai and shared the grief of the bereaved family members.


He not only offered floral tributes at the photograph of the noted lyricist but also consoled the bereaved family members.


Gaikhangam said that B Jayantakumar’s demise was a huge loss to the State and the void would be hard to fill up.


He also remembered Jayantakumar as a great person, who had dedicated his life to the field of art and culture.


Gaikhangam said that the songs, poems and other write-ups which were written by Jayantakumar would ever remain in the hearts of the people of Manipur.


The Deputy Chief Minister also said that Jayantakumar tried to transform the society through his write-ups.

Responding to a query regarding the demand of Lamphel OC’s transfer, Gaikhangam said that he would warn the police officer if he had used abusive language against the family of the girl.


Gaikhangam said that it has come to his notice that irate family members stormed the police station demanding immediate tracing of the missing girl.


Saying that the Government has taken the matter seriously, Gaikhangam assured that the Government would do the needful.


He said that it is a must to find out whether the incident was a case of elopement or abduction first.


He also urged the concerned not to resort to any form of agitation before the completion of the investigation.
