Rahul Gandhi may return to work after his long sabbatical, reports NDTV.

The Congress Vice-President was on leave after an important AICC session in February to reflect upon the party’s debacle in Delhi polls and a future course for the party.

Gandhi absence has been criticised across major party. He had come under fire during the discussion on the controversial Land Bill ordinance by the ruling BJP against which Sonia Gandhi had led a rally in March.

Gandhi’s return is set to off more heated debates on his capacity as a leader as speculations of him taking over as the party’s President are rife. Congress on March 26 had came out with the schedule for its organisational elections under which the next party chief would be elected by September 30. However there are opposing views on the 44 year-old taking charge of Congress within the party itself.

Gandhi was also expected to hold a rally for the farmers against the Land Bill on April 19. In 2013, he had stood by the farmers’ demand that land cannot be acquired without their consent.

However, since Gandhi’s leave has been extended many times, he may not show up for office even today.
