Imphal, April 02 2015 : With the Medical Council of India giving the nod to the State Government to open post graduate courses at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences for the 2015-2016 academic session, the Cabinet has decided to start the process of selecting students for admission to PG courses.


This decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting held today at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat with the Chief Minister in the chair.


According to the Government spokesperson, CAF and PD Minister M Okendro, PG courses will be opened in four streams at JNIMS.


The courses are in Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Bio-Chemistry.


Two seats are available in each stream, said Okendro and added that the last date for completing the admission process is May 31 .


The admission will be conducted according to the guidelines laid down by the Medical Council of India as well as the Government of India.

According to the guidelines, 50 pc of the seats will be filled up from the Central pool while the remaining will be filled up from the State pool.


The entrance test for the admission will be conducted by the National Board of Education, New Delhi.


Of the total seats on offer for PG courses, 50 pc will be kept aside for Medical Officers.
