JKLF chief Yasin Malik opposes land for Kashmiri Pandit colony in Kashmir valley
Srinagar: A day after Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed assured the Centre of providing land for a composite colony of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley, the separatist leadership is up against arms, calling the move a ‘conspiracy against Muslims’.
JKLF chairman Yasin Malik announced that his outfit will oppose the move to allot such settlements in Kashmir tooth and nail. He said, “We will protest on Friday and Saturday should be a shutdown.”
Malik was reacting to Sayeed meeting Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday and telling him that Jammu and Kashmir government would acquire and provide land at the earliest for composite townships for displaced Kashmiri Pandit migrants in the Valley.
JKLF chairman Yasin Malik said his party will oppose tooth and nail the move to allot such settlements in Kashmir.
PDP spokesperson Md Naeem earlier on Wednesday said, “Government is bound to bring back Kashmiri Pandits who are a part of our life with honour and dignity.”
Sayeed was told by the Home Minister that he should provide land for the Kashmiri pandits, who had to leave the Valley after in the wake of militancy more than two decades back.
Singh had written a letter to the previous Omar Abdullah government, which was followed by another communication to state Governor NN Vohra asking for identification of land for such migrants.
