Imphal, September 23 2013: The Land and Properties Owners’ Association of NHs-37/39, Senapati and Tamenglong districts has registered its opposition to the proposed handing over of highways maintenance works to the State PWD.
Saying that the PWD is incapable of highway maintenance works, importantly for any clearance of debris due to landslide, a statement issued by the general secretary of LPOA, SK Adipou said that people of the hill areas would not support the State PWD for highway maintenance.
Against the backdrop of this paper’s report on BRO’s strategic plan to move to the J&K, the association had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister urging to retain the BRO for highway construction and maintenance.
