Imphal, September 26 2013: Under Horticulture Mission, Depart-ment of Horticulture and Soil Conservation distributed seeds to farmers in a function organised at MDS Complex, Mantripukhri today.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Hill Areas Committee Vice-Chairman AZ Kikonbou Newmai said that the Centre is giving importance to North East States under its Horticulture Mission for NE and Himalayan States.
However, seeds provided by the Centre is part of trial process, he added.
Saying that the seeds would go to waste if it is not used, AZ Kikonbou said that agriculture activities would become successful if educated youths practice it with proper planning.
State products are superior in taste comparing to products of other states, Kikonbou exhorted the farmers to produce more products.
Commissioner (H&SC) JC Ramthanga, Director (H&SC) K Ngachan and Parliamentary Secretary (H&SC) Vungzagin Valte also attended the function.
