Crackdown on drug racket continuesMLA’s son in police net, remanded till Mar 8

Imphal, February 26 2013: In the aftermath of the seizure of a huge consignment of drugs by Thoubal District Police at Pallel, Congress MLA TN Haokip’s eldest son has also been pulled up.


Sources informed that MLA TN Haokip’s eldest son Seikholen Haokip (35) was apprehended by a team of Thoubal Police from Dewlahland 5th Avenue at about 8 pm yesterday.


Four cartons of Katemine Hydrochloride tablets which contain pseudo hydrochloride component and one number of IP Ektamine (500 mg) were also seized from his house.


A total of 2316 strips of Katemine Hydrochloride tablets were found inside the four cartons seized from Seikholen Haokip’s house.

Seikholen was produced in the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Thoubal, today evening and he was remanded to police custody till March 8 .


Same sections of NDPS as applied to the three FIRs registered earlier have also been invoked against Seikholen Haokip.


On February 24, Thoubal commandos apprehended six individuals including PIB-DW PRO Colonel Ajay Chowdhury and Indigo Airlines Assistant Manager Ng Brojen together pseudoephedrine drugs worth Rs 25 crores.


They have already been remanded to police custody till March 8 .


It has also been reported that one of the six arrested persons is a close relative of a senior Government official.


Another of the six arrested at Pallel is also reported to be a relative of an MLA.


Incidentally, MLA TN Haokip, from Saikot AC, held the post of Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker as well as PHE Minister earlier.
