Imphal, February 23 2013 : Another youth who reportedly collected money from four individuals after promising them appointment in Govt schools as Meetei Mayek teachers has been pulled up by volunteers of MEELAL.

Speaking to media persons today, MEELAL president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang said that the fraud was pulled up in the course of an investigation following reports of some persons promising appointment as Meetei Mayek teachers only to deceive people and earn easy money.

Under an understanding between MEELAL and Education Department, it is being prepared to send Meetei Mayek teachers to schools under different ZEOs voluntarily.

Accordingly, ZEO Wangoi was preparing to issue an order in this regard but MEELAL received reports about a few individuals taking money after convincing some people that they would be appointed as Meitei Mayek teachers.

Acting on these reports, MEELAL appealed to the ZEO Wangoi to delay the order for sometime.

In the meantime, MEELAL launched an investigation and in the course of the investigation, Yumnam Shamjai (26) s/o Manihar Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai was called to the office of MEELAL today.

On quizzing, Shamjai disclosed all what he did.

He disclosed that he collected Rs 15,000 each from four women who aspire to become Meitei Mayek teachers in cahoot with one Ingen of Lamdeng who is an employee in the office of ZEO Wangoi.

Shamjai shared Rs 6000 to Ingen.

Ingen, during an earlier meeting with MEELAL volunteers, swore that he never indulged himself in any fraudulent or corrupt practices, Tomba said.
