Imphal, February 27 2013: The charred remains of a rifleman of 5 Manipur Rifles were found at an Orange farm some 4/5 kilometres away from the 5 MR Battalion Headquarters, Tamenglong.
Police identified the deceased rifleman as Hidangmayum Gyaneshore Sharma (42) s/o (L) Radhamohon of Mayang Imphal Chabung Company.
The charred body was recovered yesterday around 5pm.The rifleman was reported to be absent from the battalion headquarters three days before the recovery of his body.
Meanwhile, family members have raised suspicion over the rifleman’s death.
The body was handed over to family members after conducting post mortem examination at JNIMS morgue today.
