Imphal, February 24 2013 : Of the 197 cadres belonging to three UG groups who assembled at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles recently and signed an MoU with the Centre and the State Government, two have turned out to be bricklayers.
In a grand function held at 1st MR on February 13 where Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Ministers, DGP, Ministry of Home Affairs Special Secretary and North East in-charge of the Home Ministry Sambhu Singh were present, 90 cadres of URF, 40 cadres of KCP (Lamphel) and 67 cadres of KYKL-MDF laid down arms formally.
But two of them have turned out to be bricklayers who were taken away by army to construct a drain.
The two bricklayers identified as Yaikhom Sabitri (55) and Ngasham Dillipkumar, both belonging to Khurai Chingangbam Leikai have returned to their respective homes this morning.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Ngasham Dillipkumar said that he and Sabitri were taken to Leimakhong army camp by one Khullem Mukho of Khurai Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai on February 12 on the pretext of building a drain there.

But instead of going to Leimakhong, the duo were taken to the Assam Rifles post located at Loitang Khunou spinning mill.
There they were forced to write their names and then they were given military uniform by one military officer.
Even as they tried their best to convince that they were workers, they were forced to take part in the function held at 1st MR on February 13 .
After this function, Sabitri and Dillipkumar were not given anything nor were they allowed to go home.
It was only yesterday that they could communicate with their families.
As Dillipkumar was to appear in Court yesterday in connection with tapping power illegally, his son Romen made a frantic search and enquired about him at different places including at Khullem Mukho’s home.
Dillipkumar and Sabitri were allowed to go back after they were given Rs 1000 each by one cadre of URF who was in charge of the outfit’s home department.
But they were also threatened with capital punishment if they disclose their stories to media or their families, Dillipkumar narrated.
Huirem Mema, wife of Khullem Mukho was also produced before media persons during the press meet.
