Autolifter siblings held

Imphal, February 20 2013: Patsoi police have rounded up two brothers for their alleged involvement in lifting an autorickshaw along with recovering the vehicle.


Parading the brothers before media persons at Patsoi police station today, Officer in-charge Inspector Sorokhaibam Basanta stated that based on specific information, Patsoi police launched a search operation and apprehended the duo along with the autorickshaw from Ngairangbam Primary School campus at around 2.45 am of February 19 .


The brothers have been identified as Md Abdul Latif alias Nahapik (30) and Md Abdul Zia-ur-Rahman (27) s/o Abdul Ali of Sangaiyumpham Mathak leikai.

It is said that the two lifted the vehicle (MN06/1472) on February 15 midnight from Sangaiyumpham.


The owner is one Md Mohammad Ali (30) .


The OC further revealed that the brothers were arrested based on information provided by Ngairangbam locals who suspected their conduct as they (brothers) tried to sell the auto.


Apart from registering a case and further investigation underway against the two, a week’s police remand have been granted by the CJM Imphal West against the vehicle lifters, said the OC Basanta adding that they were produced before the CJM court yesterday.
