Imphal, February 16, 2013: Members of the Kamjong Associate Shanao Long seized a huge quantity of herbs, locally known as Yangli Thing, from the possession of one Tonbi Heisnam of Andro Khuman Leikai while conducting a routine check at Tangrei Bus parking, Kamjong on Feb 11. A statement issued by the KASL said that felling of the tree for commercial purpose is banned and trespassers are liable for prosecution while also adding that a fine of Rs 5000 was imposed on Tonbi.
The seized item is used in brewing liquor.
The value of the seized items were valued at Rs 40,000-50,000 at a black market.
