Two cars of BCIM rally break down on NH37

Jiribam, February 14 2013: Two cars of the Bangladesh, China, India and Myanmar rally broke down along the treacherous stretch of the Imphal-Jiribam highway last night.


The two teams which entered Manipur through Moreh on February 12 left for the Jiribam leg yesterday but on the way two cars, belonging to the team from China broke down.


Police aid had to be called in and the two cars were towed upto Jiribam by a Tata Sumo and a truck.


After the arduous journey, the rally team eventually reached Jiribam town last night at about 11.40 .

The team consisted of 12 cars from China and Myanmar and included 10 Chinese nationals and 8 Myanmarese.


Talking to this correspondent, one of the participants summed up the condition of the Imphal-Jiribam line by stating “It may get better after two years” .


From Jiribam the rallyists will proceed towards Kolkata where the teams from Bangladesh and India will join the Chinese and Myanmarese teams.


On February 22, the rally will be flagged off from Kolkata and will enter Jiribam on February 26 and proceed towards Imphal.
