Imphal, February 18 2013 : Not conducting general election since the establishment of ATDUM; no general assembly; no annual report and lack of transparency are, amongst others, the reasons cited by the Association of Persons with Disabilities, Ukhrul district for opposing the 72-hr bandh called by ATDUM and its disassociation with the union.


Besides, the reported collection of money from some disabled individuals from Chandel, Senapati, Ukhrul and CCpur districts by T Momo with the assurance to get them appointed as primary teachers prompted the APWD Ukhrul to oppose the bandh called by ATDUM.


A statement issued by the president of APWD, Ukhrul pointed out that opposition raised by several hill based disabled union such as APWD, SDPAM, CDDU, ATSUSH, CDPA to the 72-hr hill areas bandh by ATDUM indicated that ATDUM has no longer the mandate of the tribal people.
