Imphal, March 23 2013 : All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has cried foul in the process of recruitment of Guest lecturers and selection of PhD candidates in the Statistics and Linguistic Department of Manipur University.

Addressing a press conference in this connection at its head office here today, Naresh Thiyam, President of AMSU pointed out that Manipur University had published advertisements for recruitment of Guest Lecturers in the Department of Statistics on January 10 and February 21 .

In response to the advertisement dated January 10, twelve candidates have applied for the post.

However, without declaring whether the candidates are illegible or not, the University authority again put up another advertisement for the same post on February 21, he informed, adding that the second advertisement was put up by the Manipur University on February 21 is not acceptable and the University authority should clarify over the issue at the earliest.

He also further alleged that some of the candidates with invalid OBC certificates were allowed to appear in the entrance test for selection of PhD candidates in the Linguistic Department under OBC category.

No Objection Certificates that were issued even after the entrance test were also entertained in the selection exam, which is very unfortunate.

Observing that all these problems have come up due to non-existence of a students’ union in the university, AMSU has demanded the authorities of the university to clarify over the issue and made it clear that the results declared should be declared as null and void.
