Imphal, March 25, 2013: The Kuki Chief Association (KCA) Moreh Block has registered strong opposition to the move of the Government in requiring opening of a separate BADP account with three persons as the joint account operators for each work programme under BADP while pointing out that the norm is against the Kuki custom.

Condemning the Government directive, the KCA, Moreh Block in its emergency meeting asserted that the administration and power of a Kuki village lies in the hands of the chief who.

The meeting felt that the chieftainship of the Kukis has been in existence since time immemorial and should never be changed with the mere initiative or pressure of the Government or any other external elements, according to a statement issued by I&P secy of KCA, T Seijathang Haokip.

Announcing that the KCA would not cooperate with the move, it further appealed the concerned authorities to apply the previous system of account operation.

It also warned of launching serious agitation if the Government applies force for its implementation.
