Imphal, March 22 2013: Marchers from Itanagar who are heading to Shantiniketan were given a rousing reception today at Asha-Jina Complex, North AOC.
A team of 24 marchers had reached Imphal yesterday.
The reception programme for them was organised by Manipur State Organising Committee of 150th Death Anniversary of Swami Vivekenanda and members of Knit India Cycle, Manipur.
Carrying the messages of National Integration, environmental awareness and peace, the marchers were flagged off from Itanagar on March 15.The team is slated to reach Shantiniketan on April 15 .
The marchers had taken out a cycle rally from Kayakumari to Kashmir in 1985.A cycle rally from Itanagar to Ojha in Gujarat was in 1988 wherein 10 rallyists from the State also took part.
The reception function today was graced by Prof A Brajakumar and Padmashree Haridas as the presidium members.
