Imphal, March 10 2013 : International Meeteis Forum today announced that it would launch a signature campaign against the Kuki tribe claiming to be one of the indigenous communities settled in Manipur.
Expressing strong opposition to claims by the Kukis that they too are indigenous community of Manipur, Forum president RK Rajendra told newspersons at its Yaiskul office that Manipur was never the place of origin for the Kukis.
Having settled in Manipur the Kukis are presently trying to not only have a foothold in Manipur but are also attempting to undermine the indigenous population by expanding their area of settlement in the valley pockets, Rajendra alleged.
