Imphal, May 19 2013: The Kuki National Front (KNF) celebrated its 26th raising day at Camp Ebenezer, Sadar Hills yesterday with more than 200 cadres and leaders.

The raising day celebration started with a mass fasting prayer.

Addressing the gathering KNF president ST Thangboi said that KNF has come a long way since its formation in 1987 .

He exhorted all the rank and file of the party to shoulder the onus of taking forward the ideology adopted by late Nehlun Kuki.

He declared that no demands should be made on any individual henceforth and no cadre shall take any action against the public in any case without consent of the leaders.

KNF general secretary Aaron Kipgen claimed that the demand for Kukiland is not a recent phenomenon.

KNF being the first Kuki armed group should accept the onus of strengthening Kuki nationalism.

Kuki means a list of 21 tribes and Kukiland belongs to the Kukis.

This was proved by the fact that Kuki people fought against the British in defence of Kuki land, Aaron Kipgen asserted.

Saying that the process for political dialogue with the Government of India is in full swing, the general secretary claimed that they were awaiting the Prime Minister’s approval for appointment of interlocutor.

He called upon all cadres to rise above their castes, tribes and come as a true Kuki army.
