Rs 54 lakhs recovered

Imphal, May 25 2013 : A sum of Rs 5.4 lakhs have has been recovered from a former Deputy Commissioner and two former ZEOs under the Manipur Public Servant Personal Liability Act for engaging four workers wrongfully in non-formal education sector in Bishnupur district.


According to an official source, the said amount was recovered after investigation by the high power committee headed by the Chief Secretary as chairman.


Then Bishnupur DC Aleng Shimray, ZEO N Surjit and ZEO Ng Raleng engaged four workers of non-formal education in Bishnupur district in 2007 in defiance of rules and regulations.


The trio contributed Rs 1.8 lakh each and paid back the total amount of Rs 5.4 lakhs to the State Govt last year.


A meeting of the high power committee presided by the Chief Secretary today declared that the case has been closed following recovery of the lost amount.
