Imphal, May 22 2013 : Rongmei Lu Phuam (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has urged all the Christians in the State to observe a fast on May 26 (Sunday) as a token strike against the eviction of Kabo Leikai residents by the Government.
Talking to reporters at the Manipur Baptist Church (MBC), Panti Golmei, president of the Lu Phuam strongly criticized Chief Minister O Ibobi’s allegations of fomenting communal tension among different communities of the State due to the eviction drive.
She said civil society organizations and the Christians have condemned the eviction drive during which many houses including three churches were demolished by the Government.
Golmei urged the Christian community to fast on May 26 as a mark of protest against the destruction of the three churches in Kabo Leikai.
