Imphal, May 20 2013: The Kuki Students’ Organisation (General Headquarters) has announced a 24-hour general strike from 5am of May 21 (Tuesday) .
Announcing this in a statement, the KSO said the general strike would be followed by indefinite economic blockade from midnight of May 22 .
The KSO has been demanding filling up of 474 backlog posts of constables in the Manipur Police dept and filling 28 various posts reserved for STs in Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd.
In a statement, Mangcha Baite, VP of KSO (Ghqs) said every citizen of the State has an obligation for peaceful coexistence amongst the different ethnic communities and preserve the integrity of the State.
It is when such deprivation of rights or discrimination occur, people usually raise a demand for separate administration of their own to avert all such discriminative administration.
It urged the public, vehicle owners to cooperate the strike call while cautioning all concerned that any untoward incident during the 24 hour general strike would be at their own risk.
