Barrack type quarters for ADCs

Source:

Imphal, May 30 2013: For construction of barrack type quarters for the six Autonomous District Councils, two agencies would be selected for each quarter through the ADC concerned and the Manipur Tribal Development Council (MTDC) .

Necessary fund for construction of barrack type quarters has been already sanctioned, informed a source.

Of all the tasks assigned to ADCs since they were revived after a gap of almost 20 years, construction of the proposed barrack type quarters is the biggest in terms of money involved.

Five barrack type quarters would be constructed for each of the six ADCs under the 13th Finance Commission.

Construction of roofs would be done by MTDC while the remaining portions would be handled by respective ADCs.

For the total 30 quarters, necessary amount has been deposited in MTDC.

In addition, Rs 2.51 crores have been deposited in the respective accounts of the ADCs for construction of the same quarters.

Even though construction work of the quarters is slated to begin from June, ADCs are confused with the Government’s policy of enlisting two agencies/individuals for each quarter.

The roofing section or finishing part was entrusted to MTDC by the State Government to ensure that the quarters are constructed properly and in time.

It is reported that the ADCs would held a meeting shortly and discuss the construction of barrack type quarters.
