MDF cadres to be shifted elsewhere

Source:

Imphal, May 25 2013 : Following Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam’s assurance that surrendered KYKL-MDF cadres being accommodated in an Assam Rifles camp at Chandel would be shifted to permanent designated camps outside Chandel district as soon as possible, the Chandel District Naga-Kuki Joint Committee has suspended all types of their agitation.

Some representatives of the committee and the Deputy CM discussed about the matter in the latter’s office chamber today and the two sides came to an understanding.

They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Gaikhangam earlier clarified that keeping surrendered KYKL-MDF cadres at Chandel is only a temporary arrangement.

The State Government and the committee agreed that the surrendered cadres of KYKL-MDF should be shifted to a regular designated camp located outside Chandel district as early as possible.

To take up all possible precautions by the Government to prevent commitment of any untoward incident or activities by any of the surrendered KYKL-MDF cadres was another point of agreement.

The third point agreement was that the committee would withdraw all types of their agitation with immediate effect.

The meeting was also attended by Tengnoupal AC MLA DK Korungthang.
