BJP not antiChristian Prof Gangmumei Kamei

Imphal, May 25 2013 : BJP is a democratic party and it is not anti-Christian, asserted BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha national vice president Prof Gangmumei Kamei.

Alleging that it is the Congress party which has been projecting BJP as a party opposed to Christians, Prof Gangmumei appealed to all the people not to fall in such propaganda.

Prof Gangmumei Kamei was speaking at a oneday district level political conference organised by BJP Schedule Tribe Morcha Senapati district at Senapati minisecretariat multipurpose hall today.

BJP never opposes Christianity and its followers.

BJP is a democratic party which does not believe in religious discrimination.

Yet, there is a big difference in the concepts of secularism between BJP and Congress.

BJP is a party which espouses Gandhian socialism and it is a party which is fighting for the cause of impoverished mass.

It is a party which believes in integral humanism whereas Congress party is a party for the rich and wealthy.

Though Congress is said to be steered by Gandhi family, it has forsook Gandhian philosophy and is rather following an adhoc system.

“I was observing BJP for six long years to see that whether the party was anti-Christian or not before I joined the party”, Prof Gangmumei said.

One cannot simply dub BJP as a party for Hindus exclusively.

Calling upon people not to take Congress propaganda seriously, he asserted that Congress cannot protect minorities.

Prof Gangmumei, who is preparing to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Outer Manipur Parliamentary constituency, claimed that there are Congress Governments both at the Centre and the State because of the anti-defection law enacted by NDA Government.

He further pointed out that Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam was first elected as an independent candidate to the State Assembly in 1980 before he joined Congress party.

Prof Gangmumei also appealed to all non-Congress parties to fight collectively for common issues.

BJP Core Committee member M Bhorot alleged that there is no democracy within Congress party.

While Sonia Gandhi would remain AICC president as long as she is alive, BJP president is changed after every three years.

Reacting to the reported statement of Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam that some political parties dishonoured Parliament, M Bhorot asserted some Congress Ministers involved in huge scams having resigned was because of BJP’s intense campaign in the Parliament.

Asserting that all the three Congress MPs have faded into oblivion, Bhorot sought support to the BJP candidate for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.

BJP treasurer Robin Blackie, general secretary (orgn) S Premananda, national Mahila Morcha executive member A Sarda, vice-president Hanjabam Jaidev and party spokesman Y Nilamani also spoke at the conference.
