Source:

Imphal, May 24 2013 : Comman-ding officer of KNF’s Ebenezer Camp HS Shanty Kipgen was shot dead by some unidentified persons at around 10 pm of May 23 .

Some 7/8 unidentified persons came to the house one Bimola located just beside Fo-rest Beat Office near Saper- meina police station and shot Shanty Kipgen at the verandah.

Shanty was hit by three bullets, one on the chest, another on thigh and the third on the arm.

According to information culled from the spot, one of Shanty Kipgen’s friend ran a motor workshop at Bimola’s home.

As such, Shanty Kip-gen came to the house every day for daily chit-chat with his friends.

As usual, Shanty Kipgen and some of his friends were having their daily chit-chat at Bimola’s verandah last night.

At about 10 pm, some people came to the house.

Shanty stood up and drew his gun but in the next moment he was hit by three bullets and he fell on the ground.

Shanty’s friends who were seated together fled away in different directions.

The unidentified armed persons also shot and punctured the front wheels of HS Shanty’s Bolero jeep parked at Bimola’s courtyard.

Though the exact motive and identity of the group which killed KNF’s Ebenezer Camp commanding officer HS Shanty Kipgen is not known, it is suspected that one group which broke away from KNF, and is not a party to SoO is behind the killing, informed a source.

According to KNF publicity secretary LH Stephen, HS Shanty was returning to their camp after visiting his family.

He also condemned the act of killing a commander of a group which is under SoO pact.

If the Government is not tactful enough, groups under SoO pact may clash with those elements and if such a arises, it would seriously jeopardise the whole security environment.

Stephen further urged the Government to investigate into the murder and unmask the killers.
