Evidences at hand, says outfit

Imphal, June 26 2013: Contending that the killing of six cadres by troops of Red Shield Division at near k Songlung village on June 22 was a stage-managed encounter, the NSCN-K/GPRN claim to have evidences to prove that the six were gunned down in cold blood.

A statement issued by the armed outfit’s deputy home K Aching Rongmei claiming involvement of 10 Assam Rifles troops in the slaying of the six cadres informed that a fact finding team constituted by the NSCN-K higher authorities has also established that on June 21 one Major Gagan invited the cadres to tea with the 10 AR CO Ajay Sharma.

As there is a cease fire pact between the GoI and NSCN-K, the cadres under good faith accepted the invitation unaware of the sinister design of the 10 AR.

All the cadres were in civil clothing and none of them carried weapons when they were taken away by the Major.

The fact finding team also found out that the 10 AR CO, Ajay Sharma, is due to be transferred in July.

Hence, in order to get his promotion the CO masterminded the fake encounter drama, maintained the statement issued by Deputy home.

Asserting that the NSCN-K does not take the incident lightly and vehemently condemns the killing, Aching expressed, “Although, there might have been dissatisfaction on the part of the public due to delay by the outfit to swiftly react on the issue, we regret the delay as it was caused due to some communication gap” .

Conveying gratitude to all the organisations for extending help to the outfit and specially mentioning UNC for ‘exposing the bitter truth behind the incident’, the Deputy Home said the NSCN-K fully endorses the UNC with regard to the incident.

Dismissing the 10 AR claim on the June 22 incident as baseless and unfounded, along with insisting that neither encounter took place and nor weapons brought in from Myanmar, it also clarified that NSCN-K/GPRN does not have any camp at Shonglong village.

Last but not the least, the NSCN-K/GPRN shares its pain and sorrow of the bereaved families.

All the cadres did not die in vain but for the cause of the Nagas, said K Aching Rongmei.
