Ukl rallies against child abuse at Jaipur Home

Ukhrul, June 21 2013 : Even as the trial of Jacob John, proprietor of Grace Home, Jaipur was conducted today at Imphal West Sessions Court, a massive rally was taken out at Ukhrul against child abuse under the aegis of the Tangkhul Frontal Organisation.


The rally here began from two points and converged at TNL Ground where a public meeting was held.


Demonstrators in thousands raised slogans on crimes against women and children.


They also demanded stringent punishment of the culprits involved.


Condemning the shocking crimes committed against women and children by the owner of the Jaipur Home in Rajasthan along with his accomplices, speakers at the gathering strongly demanded justice in the case.


Addressing the gatherings, President of TSL said all concerned must join hands in fighting against such atrocities on their children.


He said that they should not leave the matter until justice is delivered.

He also acknowledged the assistance provided by the Government of Rajasthan to the children who were rescued from a bogus Home in March this year.


N Luithui, member of NPHMR who was also personally involved in rescuing the children from Grace Home recounted the conditions of Grace Home, Jaipur.


He said 53 kids were found at the Home during a raid a few months back.


Nineteen of the children were from the district.


Filled bottles of liquor were fould in galore at the Home.


There was no facility for Education as promised to the parents/guardians, Luithui said.


He further pointed out the death of a kid in the Home as no medical assistance was given.


The Frontal Organization on behalf of the public submitted a five-point charter of demands to the DC, Ukhrul today.


Among others, the charter of demands included booking of Jacob John and his accomplices under relevant sections of protection of children from sexual offences Act 2012 and Indian Penal Code.


It also demanded booking the culprits for violating the right of children under free and compulsory education Act 2009 and relevant sections of IPC, laws of child trafficking, illegal confinement, forced labor, providing medicine without doctor advised malnutrition/undernou- rished and for physically and mentally assaulting the children as per the laws of the country.


Further it demanded the well being of the victim children and to ensure appropriate medical support, free education and vocational support, rehabilitation and financial support to the victim families.
