Painters depict essence of NE

New Delhi, June 28 2013 : In their artistic work, ‘Strokes from the East,’ Dilip Oinam from Imphal (Manipur), Sandeep Jigdung from Diphu (Assam) and Dinabandhu from Mayurbhanj (Odisha) have beautifully captured the emotions, nature, way of life in the East and North East India.


The paintings which were of mixed media, oil on canvas and acrylic on canvas, were displayed at the three day painting exhibition at the National Capital.


Taling to Oinam said his works were drawn from his childhood memories of “human relationships,”.


His works depict innocence, love, desires and for someone like Oinam who hails from a place that witnessed poverty and underdevelopment, his works also reflect human wants such as a girl’s desire for a beautiful dress.


For Jigdung, the nostalgic memories of the landscape and nature in his home State in Assam has been reflected in his works on nature.


“I miss home, the wild flowers, the greens,” he said.

While Marndi from Odisha brings out in his art the Santhal’s way of life, of beliefs, celebrations and an idyllic village.


The painting exhibition at New Delhi was presented by Kolorbox a group of artists engaged in building and promoting a community of artists and popularizing their works.


Managing the exhibition, S Priyananda said “The artists were selected on their quality of work by a panel of experts in the field of arts” .


The exhibition that began today will continue till Sunday.
