It is also said that today’s Cabinet meeting approved setting up a committee under the chairmanship of the chief Secretary to study feasibility of deleting Additional English subject from the school curriculum.
According to the Minister preference to Additional English by the students and continuous negligence of indigenous languages enlisted as MIL subject led to the decision for setting up the committee.
moreover, thrust on promoting Meiteilon and indigenous tribal languages have become inevitable as a report of the UNESCO had classified ethnic languages of Manipur as endangered, maintained the Minister.
