RIMS nurses recruitment More recruitment on contract basis suspected

Source:

Imphal, June 11 2013: Even as the issue of additional recruitment of staff nurses above the sanctioned posts of 71 has reached the High Court, RIMS authority is suspected to have recruited more staff nurses on contract basis.

According to a reliable source, the new batch of nurses numbering around 34 were recruited on contract basis for a period of three months.

The new batch of nurses were recruited after RIMS Director Prof Sekharjit sent letters to the qualified candidates.

Terms and conditions as specified in the letters written by the RIMS Director personally are; the initial period of engagement may be extended based on performance of the selected candidates and requirement of the institute, the staff nurses appointed on contract basis, being appointed as ad-hoc measure, cannot become regular employees and the staff nurses would be paid consolidated salary of Rs 13500 per month inclusive of nursing allowance and washing allowance.

If the candidates agree to the terms and conditions, and wish to work as staff nurse at RIMS, they must apply to the RIMS Director with necessary documents within five days of receiving the letter.

Based on the performance of the candidates given at the meeting of the selection committee held from April 20 to 23, 2012 and in accordance with the decision of the meeting held on April 26 this year, candidates should come in person and give their response of acceptance or otherwise to the letter for engagement as staff nurse.

This was the foremost point mentioned in the RIMS Director’s letter.

For selection of 71 staff nurses earlier, a meeting of the selection committee was held from April 20 to 23 last year.

Even though the scheduled period for the meeting was up to April 23, it extended up to the wee hours of April 24 .

Results for selection of 71 staff nurses were declared at about 11 am of the same day.

After the results were declared, a meeting of the RIMS executive council was held on August 22 .

During the meeting, the RIMS Director sought approval of the council to recruit staff nurses to fill up more vacant posts but the same proposal was turned down by the council.

On the other hand, there is a directive of the Supreme Court which restricts recruitment of staff on casual or contract basis without publication of due advertisements.

Some of the staff nurses selected through letters sent by the RIMS Director have joined service.

However, the RIMS Nursing Superintendent is not sure if all the 34 staff nurses have been given their postings.

A few days back, three staff nurses including a male reported to RIMS to join service.

They were sent to the Director but they did not come back after that, added the source.
