Imphal, June 17 2013: Manipur will soon have its own medical council.
Health minister Phungzathang Tonsing informed the House on Monday that approval for setting up of state medical council has been given to the State Government and efforts are underway to make it functional soon.
Tonsing was answering this while responding to a question raised by MLA Ng Bijoy in the House.
In another question by MLA ST Nunghlung Victor, the minister said that the estimated cost of the 50-bedded hospital now under construction at Chandel Headquarters was revised in 2009 and target has been put to complete it on December 31 next year.
Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai while responding to a query by MLA M Kunjo said that there are 124 Anganwadi centres in Hiyanglam constituency.
She said approval for construction of 69 out of the total centres has been given by the state Government and 58 have been completed so far and nine centres have been left for further construction.
Mirabai also informed that 20 Anganwadi centres have been constructed in Thangmeiband constituency too under the 4th phase and a total of Rs 29, 48, 400 has been released so far for construction of the centres in the constituency.
In the morning session of the assembly, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh announced the business of the House for the week.
Moving a call attention motion, MLA Dr I Ibohanbi drew the attention of the Revenue minister on the controversial sale of reserved land in Chandel district to the Assam Rifles.
