Imphal, July 14 2013: The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has hailed the Government of Manipur for appointing Chingai Constituency MLA MK Preshow Shimray to the post of Deputy Speaker and Z Kikhonbou Newmai of Tamei Assembly Constituency to the post of Vice-Chairman of Hill Area Committee (HAC) .
ATSUM president Muan Tombing said the timely filling of the two important posts by the tribal without any opposition from other political parties is a good gesture that speaks volumes of message to the people that under the charismatic leadership of Shri O Ibobi, avenues are created for the Hill MLAs to venture into a broader spectrum of politics.
It is indeed a test proving for the tribal to secure proper functioning of the Hill Areas Committee under 371-c of the constitution of India.
The ATSUM also congratulates the two tribal MLAs on their success in stepping towards a higher call of service towards mankind.
“It is our steadfast prayer and hope that the two shall render a yeoman service for the upliftment and inclusive progress of the tribal people,” Muan Tombing stated.
