Imphal, July 19 2013 : Kangujam Loken of Phaknung, Imphal East district under Lamlai police station who is accused of raping a minor was produced before the Court of CJM Imphal East today and the Court remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days.
Acting on the Court order, police took away the accused, but some members of the JAC constituted against the alleged rape case were found waiting outside the Court premises.
As JAC members confronted the police team, the latter somehow got away with the accused.
The anguished the JAC members went back and set afire Loken’s jewellery work shed at Phaknung.
Soon after, a mob turned out and together with the JAC members, they attempted to set afire Loken’s house too.
However, their arson attempt was aborted with the timely arrival police who succeeded in pacifying the agitated crowd.
