Imphal, July 26 2013 : Calling upon the Government to rescind its decision to acquire Muslim-dominated residential area at Mantripukhri, the Jamiat Ulama, Manipur said that it would take up the case at the National level if the Govt fails to seriously tackle the same in a few days time.


A statement issued by the working president of Jamiat Ulama, Manipur, Alhaj Moulana Hesam Azad today demanded the unconditional release of those arrested in connection with the reported resistance of land acquisition bid a few days back.


Among the arrested is one, Hafij Abdul Kalam who was arrested while he was performing Quran Tilawat (reciting Quran) in the Masjid, pointed out the statement.


Wondering how minority community of the State felt insecure under the Government of one of the biggest secular party of India, the statement further demanded to know on whose instruction was the officials with heavy security forces sent to cause disturbances to the Muslim populace of Mantripukhri who were peacefully observing Ibadat on the day.


The president of All India Jamiat, Moulana Arshad Madani has been apprised of current issues confronting the Muslim community of the State including Sora incident, Yairipok rape case and Mantripukhri land acquisition bid, it said.


It further added that all Ministers should be presumed to be standing against the Muslim community in case the State Cabinet arrives at adopting a decision to acquire residential area of Mantripukhri.
