Imphal, June 07, 2013: As announced earlier, All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) is set to halt the ongoing railway line construction works from today midnight as part of its 38 days ‘sustained agitation’.
It may be mentioned that the students’ body had staged a 38-hour ‘intense agitation’ under the codename ROTO (Reckoning of the Others) from 5 am of June 3. ATSUM has been demanding filling up of vacant posts and improvement of infrastructure of educational institutes and medical centres, proper implementation of reservation policy and bringing effective Government administration in the five hill districts of Manipur.
ATSUM Speaker Majabung Gangmei told that ATSUM volunteers are ready to launch the ‘sustained agitation’ along the stretch of NH-37 from today midnight.
Majaibung said that ATSUM had not only written but also personally talked to the authorities of NF Railway and private companies in this regard.
